The M.A. FORD 2XDSR3750A is a solid carbide jobber drill designed for high-performance drilling in demanding metal-cutting applications. It features a 3/8 inch (0.3750 inch) cutting diameter, a 142-degree point angle for reduced thrust and improved centering, and an ALtima (AlTiN) coating that provides thermal resistance and extended tool life at elevated cutting speeds. The overall length is 4.0600 inches with a 2.1700-inch flute length, making it suited for typical jobber-reach drilling tasks. Right-hand cutting with a regular spiral flute, this drill is built for machinists and toolroom operators working in production or maintenance environments where tool life and hole quality are critical.
This drill is intended for use in steel, stainless steel, and high-temperature alloys — material groups H, M, and S per ISO workpiece classification. The 142-degree point geometry and web-thinned, tapered web design reduce entry force and improve chip evacuation in tough, work-hardening materials. It is well suited for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual mills where a straight-shank carbide drill is required. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports drilling depths up to 1.7400 inches without coolant-through capability, relying on proper chip-clearing technique in interrupted or deep-entry cuts.
Designed for use in steel, stainless steel, and high-temperature alloy workpieces. Compatible with standard drill chucks and collet systems accepting a 25/64 inch (0.3906 inch) straight shank. Part of the M.A. FORD Series 2XDSR high-performance solid carbide jobber drill line.
Installation and use of this drill should be performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians familiar with carbide tooling requirements. Ensure the machine spindle and chuck or collet holder are clean and concentric before seating the shank to avoid runout-induced chipping. Carbide drills are brittle compared to high-speed steel and should not be used in setups with excessive vibration or workpiece instability. This drill does not support coolant-through delivery; external flood or mist coolant is recommended when drilling stainless steel or high-temperature alloys to manage heat at the cutting edge.
