The M.A. FORD 2XDSR1875A is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding metalworking applications. The bit measures 3/16 inch (0.1875 inch) in diameter with a 3.15-inch overall length and a 1.5-inch flute length. A 142-degree split point reduces walking and lowers thrust when entering hard materials. The ALtima aluminum titanium nitride (AlTiN) coating provides thermal resistance and surface hardness, extending tool life in abrasive and high-temperature cutting conditions. Two right-hand spiral flutes evacuate chips efficiently. This drill is suited for use by machinists, toolmakers, and maintenance technicians working with tight-tolerance holes in ferrous and exotic alloys.
The 2XDSR1875A is engineered for drilling steel, stainless steel, and high-temperature alloys. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio gives it enough reach for typical jobber-length applications on CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual mills. The straight cylindrical shank accommodates standard drill chucks and collet holders. The AlTiN coating performs well in dry or minimal-lubrication cutting environments common in production shops and aerospace maintenance settings. No coolant-through capability is present on this model, so external coolant or cutting fluid application at the entry point is standard practice when drilling stainless or high-temp alloys.
Designed for drilling steel, stainless steel, and high-temperature alloys. Fits any drill chuck or collet holder accepting a 3/16-inch straight shank. Part of the M.A. FORD Series 2XDSR high-performance carbide drill family.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician familiar with carbide tooling. Secure the shank fully in the chuck or collet before operation and verify runout is within acceptable limits, as carbide is brittle and sensitive to lateral loading. When drilling stainless steel or high-temp alloys without coolant-through capability, apply external cutting fluid to reduce heat buildup and prevent coating degradation. Handle carbide tooling carefully to avoid chipping the cutting edges during storage or changeover.
