The M.A. FORD 2XDSR1496A is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit engineered for high-performance drilling in demanding materials. It carries a 3.80 mm (0.1496 inch) diameter with a 142-degree point angle designed to reduce thrust and improve hole entry in hard metals. The ALtima (AlTiN) coating adds thermal and wear resistance, extending tool life in high-heat cutting environments. Overall length is 69.00 mm (2.7165 inches) with a 32.00 mm (1.2598 inch) flute length, giving a 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio. This bit is intended for use by machinists and tool-and-die professionals working on production or precision drilling operations.
This drill is rated for primary use in steel, stainless steel, and high-temperature alloys. The right-hand, regular spiral flute geometry promotes chip evacuation in deep-hole applications. The straight cylindrical shank measures 4 mm (0.1575 inch) in diameter, making it compatible with standard drill chucks and collet holders. It does not support coolant-through delivery, so external or flood coolant is the recommended approach when drilling stainless or superalloys. This is a single-piece tool sold individually.
Designed for drilling steel, stainless steel, and high-temperature alloys. Fits standard drill chucks and collet holders accepting a 4 mm straight cylindrical shank. Part of the M.A. FORD Series 2XDSR high-performance solid carbide jobber drill line.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with carbide tooling. Ensure the spindle and workpiece are fully secured before operation, as carbide is brittle and sensitive to lateral loading or interrupted cuts. External or flood coolant is recommended when drilling stainless steel or high-temperature alloys to manage heat at the cutting edge. Follow machine manufacturer guidelines for feed rate and spindle speed appropriate to carbide tooling in the target material.
