The M.A. FORD. 2XDSR1406A is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding materials. It measures 0.1406 inches (9/64 inches) in diameter with a 142-degree split-point angle that promotes accurate entry and reduces walking on hard surfaces. The ALtima TiN coating adds surface hardness and heat resistance, extending tool life in production environments. Overall length is 2.75 inches with a flute length of 1.26 inches and a maximum drilling depth of 1.00 inch. This bit is installed and used by machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and precision fabricators working with high-strength alloys.
This drill bit is rated for use in temperature-resistant alloys, titanium, and other hard-to-machine materials classified under workpiece material codes H, M, and S. The 2-flute spiral design with regular spiral type provides efficient chip evacuation in these materials. The straight cylindrical shank at 0.1562 inches (5/32 inches) fits standard precision chucks and collet holders. It belongs to M.A. FORD. Series 2XDSR, which is engineered for high-performance applications where surface finish and dimensional accuracy are critical. The flute-to-diameter ratio is 5xD, supporting controlled cutting at moderate depths.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and precision hand-held applications requiring a 5/32-inch straight cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece materials include temperature-resistant alloys and titanium (material codes H, M, and S).
Installation and use of this drill bit should be performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians familiar with carbide tooling. Secure the shank firmly in a properly sized collet or chuck before operation, and verify runout is within acceptable limits to prevent chipping of the carbide flutes. Carbide tooling is brittle and must not be dropped or subjected to side-loading beyond the rated cutting parameters. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing tooling.
