The M.A. FORD. 2XDSR1360A is a solid carbide jobber length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in difficult-to-machine materials. It carries a wire gauge size of No. 29, equating to 0.1360 inches in diameter, and features an ALtima titanium nitride coating for extended wear resistance and heat management. The overall length is 2.75 inches with a flute length of 1.26 inches and a maximum drilling depth of 1.00 inch. The 142-degree drill point angle is optimized for entry accuracy and reduced thrust in hard alloys. This bit is sized for use with a 0.1562-inch straight-cylindrical shank and runs a regular spiral with two flutes in right-hand cut orientation. It is installed and used by machinists and tool-and-die tradespeople.
This drill bit is intended for demanding production and maintenance drilling applications where standard high-speed steel tooling falls short. The ALtima coating and solid carbide substrate are specifically suited to materials classified under workpiece material codes H, M, and S, which correspond to hardened steels, stainless and heat-resistant alloys, and superalloys including titanium and temperature-resistant alloys. It is well suited to aerospace, medical device, and precision manufacturing environments where tight tolerances and difficult materials are the norm. The 5xD flute-by-diameter ratio supports chip evacuation in moderate-depth holes without coolant-through capability.
Designed as a high-performance replacement or production drill bit for use in Series 2XDSR tooling applications targeting primary workpiece material codes H, M, and S, including titanium and temperature-resistant alloys.
Installation and use of carbide drill bits should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with speeds, feeds, and fixturing requirements for solid carbide tooling. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in a drill chuck or collet rated for the shank diameter before operation. Carbide tooling is brittle and susceptible to fracture from side loading, interrupted cuts, or improper runout - verify spindle runout is within acceptable limits before use. This bit does not support coolant-through delivery; external coolant or cutting fluid should be applied as appropriate for the workpiece material.
