The M.A. FORD 2XDCR2500A is a solid carbide jobber-length drill designed for high-performance drilling in demanding materials. Sized at Letter E (0.2500 inches), it features a 142-degree split point and an ALtima AlTiN (Aluminum Titanium Nitride) coating that improves heat resistance and extends tool life in abrasive cutting environments. With an overall length of 3.3000 inches and a flute length of 1.7400 inches, this drill is built for precision work in steel, stainless steel, and high-temperature alloys. It is designed for use by machinists and tool-and-die professionals working with CNC machining centers and drill presses where tight tolerances are required.
This drill is best suited for production and job-shop environments tackling steel, stainless steel, and high-temperature alloy workpieces. The coolant-through design supports through-spindle coolant delivery, making it well matched for CNC machining applications where chip evacuation and heat management are critical. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and regular spiral flute geometry support consistent chip flow during deeper passes up to a maximum drilling depth of 1.3900 inches.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and other machine tool setups accepting a 0.2500-inch straight shank. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, and high-temperature alloys (ISO material codes H, M, and S). Part of the M.A. FORD Series 2XDCR high-performance carbide drill family.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist familiar with carbide tooling. Secure the straight shank in a precision collet or drill chuck rated for the spindle speed required by the workpiece material. Carbide tooling is brittle - avoid side loading and do not use this drill for manual hand-drilling applications. Verify through-spindle coolant pressure and flow settings before beginning production cuts to protect both the tool and the workpiece surface finish.
