The M.A. FORD 2XDCL2874A is a taper length drill bit engineered for precision drilling in demanding industrial and manufacturing applications. Built from solid carbide with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, it delivers extended tool life and resistance to heat buildup during high-speed operations. The bit measures 7.3 mm in diameter (0.2874 decimal inch) with a 142-degree drill point angle suited for accurate entry into hard and abrasive materials. An overall length of 118 mm and a 70 mm flute length provide reach into deeper bores. Coolant-through capability supports chip evacuation and thermal management in production drilling environments. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals are the primary installers of this bit.
This drill bit is designed for use on CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual machines where taper length geometry is required for extended reach beyond jobber-length drills. Suitable material applications include cast iron, titanium, carbon steel, steel, and tool steel. The straight cylindrical shank with an 8 mm shank diameter and 48 mm shank length fits standard collet chucks and drill holders. A flute-length-to-diameter ratio of 7xD and a maximum drilling depth of 56 mm make it well suited for through-hole and blind-hole operations in production and job shop settings.
Designed for use in materials including cast iron, titanium, carbon steel, steel, and tool steel. Fits standard collet chucks and drill holders accepting an 8 mm straight cylindrical shank. Part of the M.A. FORD 2XDCL series.
Installation and use of this drill bit should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with cutting tool setup and CNC or manual machine operation. Verify that the spindle, chuck, and collet are properly secured and rated for the intended RPM and feed rate before operation. Connect coolant-through lines according to machine tool manufacturer specifications before running. Inspect the cutting edge for wear or chipping before each use and replace the bit if damage is observed.
