The M.A. FORD 2XDCL2187A is a taper length drill bit from the 2XDCL series, engineered for demanding metal-cutting applications in production and job-shop environments. Built from solid carbide with a coated finish, it delivers the rigidity and wear resistance required for drilling cast iron, carbon steel, tool steel, titanium, and general steel. The bit features a 142-degree drill point angle optimized for reduced thrust and accurate self-centering on hard materials. With a 7/32-inch (0.2188-inch decimal) diameter, a 2-inch spiral flute length, and a 3-15/16-inch overall length, it is sized for taper-length reach beyond a jobber bit while maintaining carbide stiffness. Coolant-through capability supports high-speed, deep-hole applications where chip evacuation and heat management are critical.
This drill bit is suited for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual machines in industrial, manufacturing, and maintenance-repair-overhaul settings. The regular spiral flute geometry and right-hand cut make it a standard-orientation replacement for production drilling in ferrous and non-ferrous metals. The 15/64-inch straight shank fits standard collets and chucks without adapters. Material applications include cast iron, titanium, carbon steel, steel, and tool steel, making it a versatile choice for machinists and toolroom technicians working across a range of workpiece materials.
Compatible with standard straight-shank collets and drill chucks accepting a 15/64-inch shank. Suitable for drilling cast iron, titanium, carbon steel, steel, and tool steel workpieces. Designed for use in CNC machining centers and conventional drilling equipment capable of coolant-through toolholding.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician familiar with carbide tooling. Ensure the spindle and workpiece are fully secured before engaging the drill. Solid carbide tooling is brittle and should not be subjected to lateral loading or side pressure beyond the designed cutting parameters. Verify coolant-through supply pressure and flow are appropriate for the machine before use to protect the tool and workpiece.
