The M.A. FORD 2XDCL1693A is a solid carbide taper length drill bit engineered for precision hole-making in demanding industrial and machining applications. Built to Series 2XDCL specifications, it features a 142-degree split point, a TiN (Titanium Nitride) coating, and through-coolant capability, making it well suited for production drilling where heat and tool wear are primary concerns. The bit measures 4.3 mm in diameter (0.1693 decimal inch) with a 45 mm flute length and a 100 mm overall length. The 7xD flute-to-diameter ratio and straight cylindrical shank allow for rigid, accurate tool holding in standard collet and drill chucks. Machinists, toolroom technicians, and CNC operators working in production environments are the primary users.
This drill bit is designed for cutting cast iron, titanium, carbon steel, alloy steel, and tool steel. The taper length body provides additional rigidity over jobber-length bits, making it a practical choice when drilling deeper holes in tough workpiece materials where deflection control matters. The maximum recommended drilling depth is 36 mm. The straight cylindrical shank measures 5.00 mm in diameter and 55.00 mm in length, fitting standard ER collets and drill chuck styles common in CNC machining centers and manual lathes. The right-hand spiral flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation throughout the cut.
Rated for use in cast iron, titanium, carbon steel, steel, and tool steel workpiece materials. Fits standard ER collets and drill chucks accepting a 5.00 mm straight cylindrical shank. Suitable for CNC machining centers and manual machine tools with through-spindle or external coolant delivery.
Installation and tool changes should be performed with the machine in a full stop and lockout-tagout procedures followed per applicable shop safety standards. Verify collet or chuck runout before use, as excess runout accelerates carbide wear and can cause premature breakage. When enabling through-coolant, confirm the spindle and coolant system are compatible with the shank diameter and coolant pressure requirements of the application. Carbide is brittle - avoid side loading or interrupted cuts beyond the design parameters of the series.
