The M.A. FORD 2XDCL1520A is a taper length, solid carbide drill bit designed for precision drilling in demanding shop and field applications. Sized at wire gauge No. 24 (0.1520 inches decimal), it features a 142-degree drill point angle and a spiral, right-hand-cut flute geometry. The straight shank measures 5/32 inches in diameter, and the overall length comes in at 3-5/8 inches with a 1-3/4 inch flute length. Coolant-through capability is built in, supporting high-production drilling cycles where heat management is critical. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and CNC operators are the primary installers of this type of tooling.
This drill bit is engineered for use in materials including cast iron, titanium, carbon steel, steel, and tool steel. The 7xD flute-length-to-diameter ratio and taper length body make it well suited for deeper hole applications where a jobber-length bit would lack rigidity. It fits standard straight-shank collet chucks and drill presses that accept a 5/32-inch shank. Typical use cases include production drilling, prototype machining, and precision part fabrication in both vertical machining centers and bench drill press setups.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use taper length drill bit compatible with cast iron, titanium, carbon steel, steel, and tool steel workpiece materials. Fits standard straight-shank collet systems accepting a 0.1562-inch shank diameter.
This tooling is installed and operated by trained machinists or CNC technicians. Before mounting, confirm the collet or chuck is clean and rated for the 5/32-inch straight shank diameter. Power down and lock out the spindle drive before inserting or removing the bit. Do not exceed the maximum recommended drilling depth of 1.0000 inches per pass without confirming coolant flow is active to prevent carbide fracture from thermal shock.
