The M.A. FORD 2XDCL1496A is a solid carbide taper length drill bit engineered for demanding production drilling in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Built to Series 2XDCL specifications, it features a 142-degree split-point geometry and a TiN (titanium nitride) coating that extends tool life and reduces friction at the cutting edge. At 3.8 mm (0.1496 inch) in diameter, this bit suits precision hole-making in tight-tolerance applications. The 7xD flute-to-diameter ratio and coolant-through capability make it well suited for deeper holes where chip evacuation and heat management are critical. Licensed machinists, toolroom operators, and CNC programmers are the primary users.
This drill bit is designed for use on CNC machining centers, drill presses, and multi-axis machines requiring consistent, repeatable hole quality. Its right-hand spiral flute and straight cylindrical shank seat securely in standard collets and chucks. The TiN coating and solid carbide substrate support drilling into cast iron, carbon steel, tool steel, titanium, and general steel alloys. A maximum drilling depth of 35 mm and a 44 mm flute length allow operation within typical taper length drilling envelopes without tool changeover.
Designed as an OEM-style taper length drill bit for use in standard straight-shank toolholders, collet chucks, and keyless drill chucks accepting a 4 mm shank diameter on CNC and manual drilling equipment.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in a locked-out state per applicable OSHA and machine tool safety standards. Seat the straight shank fully into the collet or chuck and verify runout before beginning a cut. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant through the spindle when the application and machine support it. Inspect the cutting edge for chipping or wear before each use; carbide tooling is brittle and should not be dropped or used with excessive side load.
