The M.A. FORD. 2XDCL1378A is a solid carbide taper length drill bit designed for precision drilling in demanding industrial and machining applications. Built to Series 2XDCL specifications, this bit features a 142-degree split point, a TiN (titanium nitride) coating, and a spiral flute configuration optimized for chip evacuation. The 3.5 mm diameter (0.1378 decimal inch) drill delivers consistent hole quality with a diameter tolerance of +0.000 to -0.012 mm. Coolant-through capability supports high-speed, deep-hole operations. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and CNC operators handling tight-tolerance work rely on this bit for repeatable performance in ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
This drill bit is suited for use on CNC machining centers, drill presses, and multi-axis lathes in production and job-shop environments. It performs across a range of materials including cast iron, titanium, carbon steel, steel, and tool steel. The 7xD flute-length-to-diameter ratio and a maximum drilling depth of 35 mm make it well-matched for through-holes and moderate blind-hole applications in medium to hard workpiece materials. The straight cylindrical shank seats cleanly in standard collets and chucks without special tooling adapters.
Designed as a taper length replacement or production drill for machining operations involving cast iron, titanium, carbon steel, steel, and tool steel workpieces. Fits standard collet chucks and drill chucks accepting a 4.00 mm straight cylindrical shank.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or CNC technicians familiar with carbide tooling requirements. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool holder is clean and properly torqued before seating the bit. Solid carbide tooling is brittle and should not be used in setups with excessive runout or unsupported workpiece vibration, as chipping or fracture can result. Verify coolant flow through the spindle is active before beginning deep-hole cycles when using the coolant-through feature.
