The M.A. FORD. 278XCB75000B is a solid carbide square end mill engineered for high-performance milling in demanding metal-cutting applications. With a 3/4-inch cutting diameter and a 5-flute helical design, this end mill delivers aggressive material removal rates while maintaining surface finish quality. The AlCrN (aluminum chromium nitride) coating provides excellent heat resistance and wear protection, extending tool life in ferrous and hard materials. It is a single-end tool with a 3-inch length of cut, a 6-inch overall length, and a 3/4-inch shank diameter. The micrograin carbide substrate adds toughness and edge retention. Machinists, tool-and-die makers, and CNC programmers in production and job-shop environments specify this tool for complex milling operations.
This end mill is suited for face milling, slotting, contouring, and peripheral milling on CNC machining centers and manual mills. The 40-degree helix angle promotes smooth chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces, making it effective in both roughing and finishing passes. The variable index design reduces harmonic vibration during cuts. Right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction are standard. Center-cutting capability allows for plunge entry. It is well suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and similarly hard workpiece materials where tool life and dimensional accuracy are critical.
Designed for use in standard 3/4-inch collet chucks, end mill holders, and hydraulic toolholders on CNC machining centers and manual knee mills where a 3/4-inch shank is specified.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool path is cleared before inserting or removing the end mill. Use a properly sized, clean collet or end mill holder to avoid runout that shortens tool life. Verify spindle speed and feed rate parameters against the tool manufacturer's recommendations for the workpiece material before initiating a cut.
