The M.A. FORD 27251560 is a solid carbide chucking reamer designed to finish-ream holes to precise tolerances in metal workpieces. It carries a 33/64 inch (0.5156 inch decimal) cutting diameter with a tight tolerance of +0.0001 to +0.0004 inch, making it well suited for applications where bore fit and surface finish are critical. The 4 inch overall length and 1-1/2 inch straight flute provide good chip clearance and consistent cutting action. Six flutes in a right-hand cutting direction deliver smooth, stable performance in a drill press, lathe, or machining center chuck.
This reamer is used in precision machining operations across manufacturing, toolroom, and maintenance environments. It is appropriate for reaming through-holes and blind holes in ferrous and non-ferrous materials where a standard straight-flute geometry is acceptable. The uncoated solid carbide construction suits dry or flood-cooled applications and performs well in harder materials where high-speed steel tooling would wear prematurely. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals are the primary users.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide chucking reamer for use in standard straight-shank tool holders, drill chucks, and collet systems that accept the corresponding shank diameter.
Installation and use should be performed by a qualified machinist. Ensure the spindle and workpiece are fully secured before operation. Run at manufacturer-recommended speeds and feeds for solid carbide tooling in the target material - improper speeds can chip carbide or damage the bore. Always clear chips from the flutes and inspect the cutting edges before each use.
