The M.A. FORD. 27248440 is a solid carbide chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in machine shop and production environments. With a nominal diameter of 31/64 inches (0.4844 inches decimal) and a tight tolerance of +0.0001/+0.0004 inches, this reamer delivers accurate, repeatable bore sizing on ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The six-flute, straight-flute geometry provides smooth cutting action and consistent surface finish. At 4 inches overall length with a 1.5-inch flute length, it is sized for standard machine tool setups. A straight shank allows direct chucking in drill chucks, collets, or floating reamer holders. Licensed machinists, toolroom technicians, and CNC operators are the primary installers of this tooling.

Follow the reamer manufacturer and machine tool guidelines for appropriate feed rates and cutting speeds for the specific workpiece material. Solid carbide tooling is brittle and should not be used to remove excessive stock — pre-drill or bore the hole to within 0.005 to 0.015 inches of final diameter before reaming, referencing shop practice standards for allowance.
