The M.A. FORD. 27227200 is a solid carbide chucking reamer designed to produce accurate, finish-quality bores in precision machining applications. Sized at Letter I with a decimal diameter of 0.2720 inches, this reamer holds a diameter tolerance of +0.0001 to +0.0003 inches, making it suitable for close-tolerance hole finishing. The straight flute geometry and right-hand cutting direction deliver clean material removal in a wide range of workpiece materials. With an overall length of 3.25 inches and a flute length of 1.125 inches, this tool fits standard chuck-style toolholders on manual and CNC machine tools. It is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of one.
This reamer is intended for use in metalworking and machining environments where hole diameter accuracy and surface finish are critical. Typical applications include reaming pre-drilled holes to final size in jig boring, fixture building, and general precision component manufacturing. The straight shank mounts directly into drill chucks, collet chucks, or reamer holders on lathes, mills, and drill presses. It does not include coolant-through capability, making it best suited for operations where external coolant or dry cutting is standard practice.
Designed as an OEM-style precision reamer for use in standard chuck and collet toolholding systems on lathes, milling machines, and drill presses requiring a Letter I or 0.2720-inch nominal bore diameter.
This tool is installed by qualified machinists or toolroom personnel. Before mounting, ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out per shop lockout/tagout procedures. Verify that the straight shank is clean and seated squarely in the chuck or collet to prevent runout. Pre-drill or bore the hole close to final size before reaming to avoid overloading the flutes, and apply appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material when dry cutting is not specified.
