The M.A. FORD 27223500 is a solid carbide chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in machining and tooling applications. With a reamer diameter of 0.235 inches and a diameter tolerance of +0.0001 to +0.0003 inches over nominal, this tool delivers tight, repeatable bore accuracy. The straight flute geometry and right-hand cutting direction make it well suited for reaming through pre-drilled holes in a wide range of materials. At 3 inches overall length with a 1-inch flute length and a straight shank, it mounts directly into standard chucks on mills, lathes, and drill presses. Machinists, toolroom technicians, and precision fabricators working to close tolerances rely on solid carbide reamers for their rigidity and wear resistance.
This reamer is used in production and toolroom environments where bore finish and dimensional accuracy are critical. It is appropriate for use in CNC machining centers, manual mills, and lathes where straight-shank tooling is compatible with the spindle or chuck setup. The 4-flute configuration provides a good balance of chip clearance and surface finish quality. It is sold individually and carries no coolant-through capability, making it suitable for conventional flood coolant or dry cutting setups depending on material and machine capability.
Designed as a straight-shank chucking reamer for use with standard drill chucks and collet systems on mills, lathes, and machining centers that accept straight-shank tooling in the applicable diameter range.
Chucking reamers should be installed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Secure the straight shank firmly in a properly sized chuck or collet to minimize runout, as excessive runout will degrade bore tolerance and surface finish. Always ream a pre-drilled or bored hole that is close to final size — do not attempt to remove excessive stock with a reamer.
