The M.A. FORD 27220700 is a solid carbide chucking reamer designed to finish-ream drilled or bored holes to tight tolerances in metalworking applications. Built to Series 272 standards, it features a 0.2070-inch diameter with a diameter tolerance of +0.0001 to +0.0003 inches, making it suitable for precision hole finishing where dimensional accuracy is critical. The straight flute, right-hand cutting geometry produces a clean shearing action on the workpiece. At 3 inches overall length with a 1-inch flute length and a straight-cylindrical shank, it mounts directly in standard drill chucks, collet chucks, or floating reamer holders on CNC machining centers, mills, or drill presses. Installation is handled by machinists and toolroom professionals.
This reamer is used in precision machining environments where hole quality and size consistency are required. Typical applications include finish-reaming holes in ferrous and non-ferrous metals, alloys, and similar machinable materials. The bright, uncoated carbide construction makes it well suited for use in applications where coating buildup could affect dimensional control, and where carbide rigidity outperforms high-speed steel in harder or abrasive workpiece materials. It is sold individually and is a direct single-piece procurement option for toolroom replenishment or job-specific tooling needs.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide chucking reamer for use in standard machine tool spindles accepting a straight-cylindrical shank; fits drill chucks, ER collet chucks, and floating reamer holders sized for a 0.2070-inch shank diameter.
Chucking reamers are installed and operated by qualified machinists following established shop-floor tooling procedures. Ensure the machine spindle and workpiece fixture are fully secured and the machine is at a complete stop before changing or seating the tool. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant for the workpiece material to extend tool life and maintain surface finish quality. Never use a reamer to remove stock beyond its intended finishing allowance, as overloading a carbide reamer can cause chipping or breakage.
