The M.A. FORD. 27218550 is a solid carbide chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in machining and tooling applications. It features a 0.1855-inch diameter with a tight tolerance of +0.0001 to +0.0003 inches, making it suitable for work that demands consistent, repeatable sizing. The straight flute geometry and right-hand cutting direction are standard for general-purpose reaming in through and blind holes. With a 2.75-inch overall length and a 0.875-inch flute length, this reamer fits standard chucking setups on mills, drill presses, and machining centers. It is uncoated solid carbide, offering hardness and wear resistance on a wide range of workpiece materials.
This reamer is suited for production and job-shop machinists working in ferrous and non-ferrous materials where hole diameter accuracy is critical. The straight shank allows direct mounting in drill chucks, collets, or floating reamer holders. Its compact flute length is well-matched to shallow hole applications. With four flutes, it provides stable cutting action at controlled feed rates. This tool is part of the M.A. FORD. Series 272 line of solid carbide chucking reamers covering the 0.1500 to 0.1999-inch diameter range.
Part of the M.A. FORD. Series 272 solid carbide chucking reamer line, covering the 0.1500 to 0.1999-inch diameter range. Designed for use in standard chucking setups on mills, drill presses, and machining centers accepting a straight shank reamer.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists. Secure the straight shank firmly in a drill chuck, collet, or floating reamer holder before operation. Ensure the spindle and workpiece are properly fixtured and that the machine is at a full stop before tool changes. Follow shop-standard speeds and feeds for solid carbide reamers in the applicable workpiece material; do not force the tool or exceed recommended feed rates, as solid carbide is brittle under lateral loading.
