The M.A. FORD 27218400 is a solid carbide chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in metal fabrication and machining applications. Built to Series 272 specifications, it features a 0.184-inch diameter with a tight tolerance of +0.0001 to +0.0003 inches, delivering consistent, accurate bore sizing pass after pass. The straight flute geometry and right-hand cutting direction make it well-suited for through-hole reaming in a variety of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Machinists and toolroom professionals install this reamer in a standard chuck or collet setup for finish-reaming drilled or bored holes to close dimensional tolerances.
This reamer is used in machine shops, toolrooms, and production environments where precise hole diameter control is required. The 2.75-inch overall length and 0.875-inch flute length make it appropriate for relatively shallow through-holes in workpieces that require tight bore tolerances. The straight cylindrical shank allows straightforward mounting in drill press chucks, mill spindles, or CNC collet holders. No coolant-through capability is incorporated, so external cutting fluid or flood coolant should be applied at the cutting zone when working with materials that generate significant heat.
Designed as an OEM-style chucking reamer for use in drill presses, milling machines, and CNC machining centers accepting a straight cylindrical shank. Fits within the 0.1500 to 0.1999-inch reamer diameter range of the M.A. FORD Series 272 product line.
Installation and use of this reamer should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before mounting or removing the reamer from the chuck or collet. Ensure the shank is fully seated and the holding device is properly tightened before initiating the cut. Apply adequate cutting fluid at the reaming zone to extend tool life and maintain bore finish quality; do not run dry on ferrous materials.
