The M.A. FORD. 27217800 is a solid carbide chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in machining applications. With a reamer diameter of 0.178 inches and a diameter tolerance of +0.0001 to +0.0003 inches, it delivers consistent, close-tolerance results in production and repair environments. The straight flute geometry and right-hand cutting direction make it well suited for through-hole and shallow blind-hole reaming operations. Overall length is 2.75 inches with a flute length of 0.875 inches. This tool is used by machinists, tool and die professionals, and maintenance technicians working in metal fabrication, aerospace, and general industrial settings.
The 27217800 is intended for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual lathes where a straight shank, chucking-style reamer is required. It falls within the 0.1500 to 0.1999 inch diameter range of the M.A. FORD. Series 272 line. The uncoated solid carbide construction makes it appropriate for finishing ferrous and non-ferrous materials where dimensional accuracy and surface finish are critical. No coolant-through capability means it is best applied in operations where external flood coolant or dry cutting conditions are used.
Part of the M.A. FORD. Series 272 chucking reamer line, designed for use with standard straight-shank drill chucks and collet systems accepting tools in the 0.1500 to 0.1999 inch diameter range.
Installation and use of this reamer should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with cutting tool setup and safe machine operation. Power down and lock out the spindle before installing or removing the tool from the chuck or collet. Ensure the shank is fully seated and the chuck is properly tightened before initiating a cut. Do not exceed the recommended feed and speed parameters for solid carbide reamers in the material being machined.
