The M.A. FORD. 27216950 is a solid carbide chucking reamer designed to produce precise, finished holes in metalworking applications. Sized to wire gauge 18 with a decimal diameter of 0.1695 inches, it holds a reamer diameter tolerance of +0.0001 to +0.0003 inches, making it well suited for close-tolerance work. The straight flute geometry and right-hand cutting direction deliver clean, consistent material removal. With an overall length of 2.75 inches and a flute length of 0.875 inches, this compact reamer fits standard drill press chucks and CNC machining centers. Machinists, tool-and-die workers, and precision fabricators are the typical end users.
This reamer is used in precision hole finishing on ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces where a drilled hole must be brought to a controlled diameter. The straight shank accepts standard collets and drill chucks without adapter hardware. At 0.1695 inches, the cutting diameter falls within the 0.1500 to 0.1999 inch decimal inch range, covering common small-bore applications in aerospace, automotive, and general machining. The 4-flute configuration balances chip clearance with surface finish quality in short, through-hole operations.
Designed as an OEM-style precision reamer for use in drill presses, CNC machining centers, and manual mills equipped with collet or drill chuck toolholding rated for straight-shank tooling in the 0.1695 inch diameter range.
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with precision reaming procedures. Secure the straight shank firmly in a collet or drill chuck before operation and verify chuck runout is within acceptable limits, as excess runout will compromise hole tolerance. De-energize the machine spindle and lock it out before changing or inspecting the tool. Do not use this reamer as a drill to originate holes; always pre-drill or pre-bore the workpiece to leave only the recommended finishing stock before reaming.
