The M.A. FORD 27214050 is a solid carbide chucking reamer ground to a No. 28 wire size diameter of 0.1405 inches. It is designed to finish-ream drilled or bored holes to a precise, repeatable diameter in metalworking and machining applications. The reamer features a straight flute geometry and right-hand cutting direction, with a diameter tolerance of +0.0001 to +0.0003 inches, making it suitable for close-tolerance hole finishing. Overall length is 2.5 inches with a 0.75-inch flute length. The straight shank seats directly in a drill chuck or collet. Machinists and tool-and-die technicians install this tool in CNC machining centers, knee mills, and drill presses.
This reamer is used in precision machining environments where hole diameter control is critical, such as fitting dowel pins, press-fit bushings, or close-tolerance fastener holes. The No. 28 wire size fits applications in the 0.1000 to 0.1499 inch diameter range. Solid carbide construction makes it appropriate for harder workpiece materials, including cast iron, hardened steel, and abrasive alloys, where high-speed steel reamers wear prematurely. It is sold individually and suited for both production and job-shop use.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide chucking reamer for use in standard straight-shank drill chucks and collet systems on CNC machining centers, milling machines, and drill presses where No. 28 wire size hole finishing is required.
This tool is installed and used by machinists and tool-and-die technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing tooling. Seat the straight shank fully and concentrically in the chuck or collet to avoid runout, which will directly affect hole tolerance. Use appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material; do not run solid carbide reamers dry in steel unless the machine and tool are rated for dry cutting.
