The M.A. FORD 27212480A is a solid carbide chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in metal components. With a nominal diameter of 1/8 inch (0.1248 decimal inch) and a tight tolerance of +0.0001 to +0.0003 inches, it delivers consistent, accurate bore dimensions in production and maintenance machining environments. The 4-flute, right-hand cutting geometry paired with an ALtima coating provides durability and smooth chip evacuation during reaming operations. At 2-1/4 inches overall length with a 5/8-inch flute length, this reamer is suited for shallow to moderate-depth holes. Machinists, tool-and-die makers, and maintenance technicians rely on this type of reamer for achieving tight-tolerance finishes that drilling alone cannot produce.
This chucking reamer fits standard drill press, CNC machining center, and manual lathe setups using a straight-cylindrical shank for secure chuck mounting. It is intended for right-hand reaming in materials where carbide tooling is specified for hardness or abrasion resistance. The Series 272 designation identifies it within M.A. FORD's line of modified-standard solid carbide reamers. Note that this item is listed as a modified standard and is non-returnable and non-cancelable once ordered.
Designed as a Series 272 modified-standard solid carbide chucking reamer for use in standard drill press, lathe, or CNC spindle setups accepting a straight-cylindrical shank in the 1/8 inch diameter range.
Chucking reamers of this type are installed and operated by machinists or toolroom technicians. Ensure the workpiece is securely fixtured and the spindle is at the appropriate speed and feed for carbide tooling before beginning the cut. Power down and de-energize the machine before changing or seating the reamer in the chuck or collet. Do not use this reamer to enlarge undersized holes beyond its rated tolerance - pre-drill or bore to within a few thousandths of final diameter before reaming.
