The M.A. FORD 27212400 is a solid carbide chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in metalworking and machining applications. It produces tight-tolerance bores with a reamer diameter of 0.124 inches and holds a diameter tolerance of +0.0001 to +0.0003 inches, making it suitable for work requiring close fits and smooth bore surfaces. The 4-flute straight flute geometry with right-hand cutting direction provides consistent chip evacuation and surface finish. With a 2.25-inch overall length and 5/8-inch flute length, this reamer is sized for short-reach applications in drill presses, CNC machining centers, and manual mill setups. Machinists and toolroom technicians are the primary users.
This chucking reamer is used in production and toolroom environments where hole diameter accuracy is critical. The straight shank allows direct mounting in standard chucks and collet holders. It is well-suited for finishing drilled or bored holes in ferrous and non-ferrous materials where the 0.124-inch diameter falls within the 0.1000 to 0.1499 inch range. The uncoated solid carbide construction performs in dry cutting conditions and in applications where coolant-through tooling is not required or available.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard toolroom chucking reamer for use in drill presses, manual mills, and CNC machining centers accepting straight-shank tooling in the 0.1000 to 0.1499 inch diameter range.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians familiar with reamer operation. Secure the straight shank firmly in a precision chuck or collet holder to minimize runout before use. Ensure the workpiece is properly fixtured and the spindle speed is set to values appropriate for carbide tooling in the workpiece material. Do not force a reamer through an undersized pilot hole; always predrill or bore to within the recommended stock allowance before reaming.
