The M.A. FORD 27210400 is a solid carbide chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in metalworking applications. Built to wire size 37, it produces a finished bore diameter of 0.1040 inches with a tight tolerance of +0.0001 to +0.0003 inches, making it suitable for close-tolerance fits and dowel or pin-clearance work. The four-flute, straight-flute geometry provides consistent chip evacuation and a smooth finish in short-to-medium depth holes. With an overall length of 2.25 inches and a flute length of 0.625 inches, this reamer is sized for compact chucking setups on drill presses, CNC machining centers, and manual lathes.
This reamer is used in general precision machining environments where small-diameter bores require tight dimensional control. The straight shank mounts directly into standard drill chucks, collet holders, or floating reamer holders. Right-hand cutting direction and uncoated solid carbide construction make it well suited for reaming ferrous and non-ferrous materials where dimensional accuracy is the priority. Machinists, tool and die makers, and CNC operators working in job shop or production environments will find this reamer appropriate for finishing pre-drilled holes to wire size 37 specification.
Designed as an OEM-style precision chucking reamer for use in standard straight-shank toolholders, drill chucks, and collet systems capable of accepting a straight shank at the 0.1040-inch diameter range.
Installation and use should be performed by a qualified machinist familiar with reaming operations and cutting tool safety. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and machine power is off before mounting or removing the reamer from the holder. Use a floating reamer holder where possible to compensate for minor misalignment and prevent tool deflection. Always pre-drill the hole to the correct undersize before reaming, and apply appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tool life and maintain bore finish quality.
