The M.A. FORD 27210150 is a solid carbide chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in metalworking and machining applications. Built to wire gauge size 38, it produces a finished bore diameter of 0.1015 inches with a tight tolerance of +0.0001 to +0.0003 inches, making it suitable for close-tolerance work where dimensional accuracy is critical. The 4-flute straight configuration provides clean, stable cutting action on through and blind holes. With a 2.25-inch overall length and a 5/8-inch flute length, this reamer is sized for short-reach drilling applications in a standard drill press, CNC machining center, or manual lathe setup. Machinists and toolroom professionals are the primary users.
This reamer fits production and job-shop environments where small-diameter precision bores are required. It is well suited for finishing holes in ferrous and non-ferrous materials where a straight-flute geometry performs reliably. The straight shank allows direct chucking into collets, drill chucks, and floating reamer holders without an adapter. Applications include fixture plates, dowel pin holes, and bearing fits requiring repeatable dimensional results. No coolant-through capability is present, so conventional flood or mist coolant applied externally at the cutting zone is the standard approach.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide chucking reamer for use in standard drill presses, CNC machining centers, and manual lathes equipped with collets or drill chucks accepting a straight shank in the applicable diameter range.
Installation and use should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before mounting or removing the reamer. Secure the straight shank firmly in a collet or drill chuck to minimize runout, as excessive runout at this diameter will cause oversize bores and premature tool wear. Use the appropriate feed rate and RPM for the workpiece material and apply external coolant or cutting fluid at the cutting zone throughout the operation.
