The M.A. FORD 27208900 is a solid carbide chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in tight-tolerance machining applications. Built to wire gauge size 43, this reamer produces a finished bore diameter of 0.0890 inches with a tolerance of +0.0001 to +0.0003 inches, making it well-suited for work where dimensional accuracy is critical. The four-flute, right-hand cut configuration with a straight flute geometry provides stable, consistent material removal. The overall length is 2 inches with a flute length of 0.5 inches. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals install this reamer in drill presses, lathes, and CNC machining centers using a standard straight shank chuck setup.
This reamer is appropriate for small-diameter finishing operations in metalworking environments, including production shops, toolrooms, and job shops handling precision components. It is part of the M.A. FORD Series 272 line of solid carbide chucking reamers. The uncoated solid carbide construction is suitable for ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials where a bare carbide cutting edge is preferred. No coolant-through capability is present, so flood or mist coolant applied externally is typical practice when machining harder materials.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide chucking reamer in the M.A. FORD Series 272 line, compatible with standard straight-shank chuck holders on drill presses, lathes, and CNC machining centers accepting the 0.0890-inch shank diameter.
Installation and operation should be performed by a qualified machinist familiar with reaming procedures and toolroom safety practices. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before mounting or removing the reamer from the chuck. The reamer should be run at appropriate speeds and feeds for the workpiece material to avoid deflection or tool breakage given the small diameter. External coolant or cutting fluid is recommended when reaming harder materials, as this tool does not include coolant-through capability.
