The M.A. FORD 27208600 is a solid carbide chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in tight-tolerance machining applications. Built to wire gauge size 44, this reamer produces a 0.0860-inch finished bore diameter with a tight tolerance of +0.0001 to +0.0003 inches. The four-flute straight configuration with right-hand cut delivers consistent surface finish and dimensional accuracy. At 2.0 inches overall length with a 0.5-inch flute length, it is engineered for shallow reaming passes in small-diameter bores. Machinists and toolroom technicians select this reamer when hole quality and repeatability are critical to final part function.
This reamer is suited for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual lathes where chucking-style straight shanks are required. The uncoated solid carbide construction makes it appropriate for reaming ferrous and non-ferrous materials where carbide hardness provides superior wear resistance compared to high-speed steel alternatives. Typical applications include production machining of small precision components in aerospace, medical device, and general metalworking environments where wire-gauge bore tolerances are specified on engineering drawings.
Designed as a standard chucking reamer for use in any machine tool setup accepting a straight shank in the corresponding shank diameter range, including CNC machining centers, knee mills, drill presses, and turret lathes equipped with collet chucks or drill chucks sized for small-diameter tooling.
Installation and use should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician familiar with reaming procedures and cutting tool safety. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool is securely clamped in a properly sized collet or chuck before beginning any operation. Use appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to promote tool life and bore finish quality. Do not exceed the recommended feed and speed parameters for solid carbide tooling in the applicable material to avoid tool fracture.
