The M.A. FORD 27207000 is a solid carbide chucking reamer sized to wire gauge No. 50, producing a finished bore diameter of 0.0700 inches. Built from solid carbide throughout, the tool delivers superior wear resistance and dimensional stability compared to high-speed steel alternatives. It features a straight flute geometry with a right-hand cutting direction and mounts via a straight shank for use in standard drill chucks, collet chucks, and machine tool holders. With a 4-flute configuration, it removes material efficiently while maintaining tight diameter tolerance of plus 0.0001 to plus 0.0003 inches. This reamer is sold individually and is intended for machine installation by machinists and toolroom professionals.
This reamer is suited for precision bore finishing operations in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual lathes where small-diameter hole tolerances are critical. Applications include finishing drilled holes in ferrous and non-ferrous metals, engineering plastics, and other machinable materials. The 0.5-inch flute length accommodates shallow-to-moderate depth bores typical of small-diameter reaming work, while the overall length of 1.75 inches keeps the tool compact for confined workpiece setups.
Designed as a machine-driven chucking reamer for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, turret lathes, and similar equipment accepting straight-shank tooling at the appropriate shank diameter.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Secure the straight shank firmly in a collet, drill chuck, or toolholder rated for the shank diameter before beginning any operation. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing or inspecting the reamer. Run at appropriate spindle speeds and feed rates for solid carbide tooling in the workpiece material — consult the manufacturer cutting data for the Series 272 line; do not extrapolate speed and feed values from HSS reamer tables.
