The M.A. FORD 27204800A is a solid carbide chucking reamer designed to produce precision-diameter holes in a wide range of materials. With a 0.048-inch cutting diameter and a tight tolerance of +0.0001 to +0.0003 inches, this reamer holds close finished-bore dimensions required in precision machining applications. The 4-flute, straight-flute geometry with a right-hand cut delivers clean, consistent finishes in through and blind holes. The ALtima coating improves wear resistance and tool life in demanding cutting conditions. At 1.5 inches overall length with a 0.375-inch flute length and a straight cylindrical shank, this reamer is suited for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual machines with a standard chuck or collet setup.
This chucking reamer is intended for precision finishing of small-diameter bores in metalworking and machining environments. Its compact overall length and sub-0.05-inch diameter make it appropriate for fine-tolerance work in industries such as aerospace, medical device manufacturing, electronics, and precision instrument fabrication. It is installed and used by machinists, tool-and-die makers, and CNC operators working with close-tolerance bore requirements. The straight shank allows direct mounting in collet chucks or standard drill chucks without adapters.
Designed as an OEM-style precision chucking reamer for use in standard collet chucks and drill chucks accepting straight cylindrical shanks in the applicable diameter range.
Chucking reamers are installed by machinists and CNC operators; ensure the machine spindle and chuck are fully powered down and locked out before mounting or removing the tool. Secure the straight shank firmly in the collet or chuck to prevent runout, which degrades bore tolerance and finish quality. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant compatible with the workpiece material to maximize tool life and surface finish. Follow applicable shop safety procedures and machine manufacturer guidelines when operating at recommended speeds and feeds for carbide tooling.
