The M.A. FORD. 22922050 is a solid carbide jobber length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in non-ferrous metals. Ground to a 150-degree drill point angle with a parabolic, web-thinned flute geometry, it evacuates chips efficiently and resists walking at entry. The bright uncoated finish suits applications where coating buildup could affect tolerance. At 82 mm overall length with a 44 mm flute length and a maximum drilling depth of 35 mm, this bit handles standard through-hole and blind-hole work in production and job-shop environments. A licensed machinist, toolroom tech, or CNC operator is the typical end user.
This drill bit is rated for non-ferrous metal workpiece materials, including aluminum, brass, copper, and similar alloys. The Series 229 parabolic flute design with a 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio promotes smooth chip flow at higher feed rates. The straight-cylindrical shank at 6.00 mm diameter fits standard drill chucks and collet holders without modification. It is built to DIN 6537 L specification and manufactured under ISO 9001:2015 quality standards, making it appropriate for both manual and CNC drilling operations where dimensional consistency is required.
Designed as an OEM-style Series 229 replacement or direct-use solid carbide drill bit for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual machines accepting a 6.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Rated for non-ferrous metal primary workpiece materials per DIN 6537 L specification.
Installation and use should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician familiar with carbide tooling. Ensure the machine spindle and collet or chuck are fully de-energized and locked out before mounting or changing the bit. Carbide is brittle — avoid side loading, interrupted cuts beyond the tool rating, or dropping the bit on hard surfaces. Verify spindle runout is within acceptable limits before use to prevent premature chipping or breakage.
