The M.A. FORD 22921300 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in non-ferrous metals and similar materials. It carries a wire size designation of 3, corresponding to a decimal diameter of 0.2130 inches, with a 3.0-inch overall length and a 1-3/4-inch flute length. The 150-degree split point reduces thrust and improves self-centering at entry. The parabolic flute geometry accelerates chip evacuation, which is critical when drilling softer, gummy materials. The bright uncoated finish suits applications where coating compatibility with the workpiece material is a concern. This bit is sized within the 0.2000 to 0.2500-inch range of the Series 229 line.
This drill bit is intended for drilling non-ferrous metals, including aluminum, brass, copper, and similar materials coded N and O in standard workpiece material classifications. The straight-cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks without modification. It is well-suited for production environments, CNC drilling operations, and precision maintenance work where hole tolerance and chip control matter. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports drilling to a maximum depth of 1-5/16 inches without coolant-through capability. Machinists, toolroom technicians, and industrial maintenance professionals are the primary users.
Designed for use in non-ferrous metal workpiece materials (material codes N and O). Fits standard drill chucks accepting a 0.2130-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Part of the M.A. FORD Series 229 jobber-length drill bit line.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians familiar with cutting tool setup. Secure the shank fully in the drill chuck and verify runout before beginning a cut. This bit does not support coolant-through delivery, so external coolant or cutting fluid application is recommended when drilling deeper holes to manage heat. Inspect the cutting edges before each use and replace the bit if chipping or wear is detected, as carbide tools are brittle and can fracture if used beyond serviceable condition.
