The M.A. FORD 22909380 is a solid carbide jobber length drill bit designed for precision drilling in non-ferrous metals and other demanding materials. Built to Series 229 specifications, it features a 150-degree split point, a parabolic flute geometry, and a web-thinned, tapered web configuration that reduces thrust and improves chip evacuation. The 3/32-inch diameter bit has an overall length of 2 inches and a flute length of 1 inch, with a straight-cylindrical shank for use in standard drill chucks and collets. The bright, uncoated carbide surface is suited for applications where coating adhesion or heat buildup are not primary concerns. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die shops, and precision fabricators are the primary installers of this type of bit.
This drill bit is rated for use in non-ferrous metals including aluminum, brass, copper, and similar materials, as indicated by Primary Workpiece Material Code N and O. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and parabolic flute design support efficient chip removal in deeper holes relative to diameter. The 3/4-inch maximum drilling depth and right-hand cut make it appropriate for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and hand-held precision drilling operations where tight tolerances are required. It ships in a quantity of one and is ordered in single-unit increments.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-production drill bit for applications requiring a 3/32-inch solid carbide jobber length bit in non-ferrous metal drilling. Meets DIN 6537 L dimensional standards and is manufactured under ISO 9001:2015 certified processes.
This bit is installed by machinists and precision drilling technicians in CNC machines, drill presses, or precision hand drills using a collet or chuck sized for a 3/32-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is locked out before changing tooling. Secure the shank fully within the collet or chuck to the minimum recommended grip depth to prevent runout. Solid carbide is brittle relative to high-speed steel — avoid lateral loading or prying during drilling operations.
