The M.A. FORD 20709380 is a solid carbide screw machine length drill bit ground to a 3/32-inch (0.0938 inches) diameter with a straight-cylindrical shank of equal diameter. Built for precision drilling in non-ferrous metals, this bit features a brad point, a regular spiral flute geometry, and a bright uncoated finish that maintains tight dimensional tolerances straight out of the box. At 1-3/4 inches overall length with a 1/2-inch flute length, it is sized for compact drilling stations and screw machine operations where stub-length control matters. A web-thinned, parallel web configuration reduces thrust and improves chip evacuation in short-bore applications. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and CNC setup personnel are the primary installers.
This drill bit is designed for screw machine and short-hole drilling operations in non-ferrous metals such as aluminum, brass, copper, and similar soft alloys. The 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio and the 1-1/4-inch shank length suit gang-drilling fixtures, turret lathes, and benchtop drill presses where rigidity and repeatability at small diameters are critical. The right-hand cut and spiral flute design pull chips upward and out of the bore, reducing the risk of re-cutting in shallow blind holes. No coolant-through capability is required for typical non-ferrous applications at this diameter.
