The M.A. FORD 20637700 is a screw machine length (stub) drill bit designed for precision hole-making in metalworking applications. It features a solid carbide construction with a bright/uncoated finish and a 118-degree faceted drill point. The 0.377-inch diameter corresponds to letter size V. With a 2-flute spiral flute design and a web-thinned parallel web configuration, this bit delivers efficient chip evacuation and reduced thrust during drilling. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 0.377 inches in diameter and 1.25 inches in length, fitting standard drill chucks. This bit is intended for use by machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and maintenance professionals working on production or repair operations.
This drill bit is suited for drilling cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, and steel. Its short overall length of 2.5 inches and 1.25-inch flute length make it well-suited for rigid setups in drill presses, CNC machining centers, and turret lathes where stub-length rigidity reduces deflection and improves hole accuracy. The 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports controlled chip flow in through-hole and blind-hole applications across production and job-shop environments.
Designed as a Series 206 screw machine length drill bit for use in cast iron, non-ferrous metal, stainless steel, and steel workpieces. Compatible with any standard drill chuck or collet accepting a 0.377-inch straight-cylindrical shank.
This bit should be installed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians familiar with cutting tool setup and machine operation. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in a drill chuck or collet and verify runout before engaging the workpiece. Power down and lock out the machine before changing tooling. Coolant-through is not supported on this bit, so external coolant or cutting fluid should be applied as appropriate for the workpiece material to prevent heat buildup and premature wear.
