The M.A. FORD 20615200A is a screw machine length (short) drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding shop and field applications. Built from solid carbide and coated with an AlTiN (ALtima) finish, this bit handles heat and abrasion far better than standard high-speed steel tooling. It cuts at a 118-degree, 4-facet drill point angle with a right-hand, regular spiral flute configuration. The overall length is 2.0 inches with a straight shank diameter of 0.1520 inches and a wire gauge size of 24. The 5/8-inch flute length and short-series geometry make it well-suited for rigid setups where stub-length rigidity is needed. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die techs, and industrial maintenance professionals are the primary users.
This bit is rated for use in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, and non-ferrous materials. The screw machine length format fits standard drill chucks and CNC machining centers where a short, stiff drill is preferred to minimize deflection. It is a Series 206 bit, part of M.A. FORD's short-length carbide line. The 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio keeps chip evacuation manageable in shallow-to-moderate depth holes. Coolant-through is not supported on this geometry. This bit is sold individually.
Designed for use in standard drill chucks and CNC machining centers accepting a 0.1520-inch straight shank. Suitable for drilling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, and non-ferrous workpiece materials as specified for the Series 206 short carbide drill line.
Installation and use of this tooling should be performed by qualified machinists or trained maintenance personnel familiar with drill press, lathe, or CNC machine operation. Ensure the spindle and workpiece are properly secured and that the correct spindle speed and feed rate for the workpiece material and bit diameter are applied before cutting. Coolant-through is not available on this bit; external coolant or cutting fluid may be used where applicable. Inspect the cutting edges for chipping or wear before each use, as carbide is brittle and can fracture if dropped or mishandled.
