The M.A. FORD 20468750 is a solid carbide jobber length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding materials. The bit measures 11/16 inches (0.6875 inches) in diameter with a 5-1/2 inch overall length and a 3-5/8 inch flute length. It features a 118-degree faceted point angle with a web-thinned, tapered web configuration that reduces entry force and improves centering. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 11/16 inches in diameter and is sized for standard drill chucks. Two spiral flutes in a regular helix pattern promote efficient chip evacuation. The bright, uncoated finish is suited for applications where coating buildup or heat transfer would be a concern.
This Series 204 drill bit is rated as a general-purpose tool and is intended for use in cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, and steel. The 5xD flute-by-diameter ratio makes it well suited for standard jobber-length drilling tasks in machining, fabrication, and maintenance environments. Right-hand cutting direction is standard for use in conventional drill presses, CNC machining centers, and hand-held power drills. The bit does not have coolant-through capability, so external coolant or cutting fluid should be applied when drilling stainless steel or other work-hardening materials.
Designed for general-purpose drilling in cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, and steel workpieces. Compatible with any drill press, CNC machining center, or power tool equipped to accept an 11/16-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Diameter tolerance is -0.0005 to 0.0000 inches (-0.013 to 0.000 mm).
Installation and use should be performed by a qualified machinist or maintenance technician familiar with drill bit selection and cutting parameters. Secure the shank fully in the chuck and verify runout before beginning the cut. For stainless steel or other work-hardening alloys, apply an appropriate cutting fluid to manage heat and prolong tool life. Do not exceed the recommended feed and speed parameters for the workpiece material and machine setup.
