The M.A. FORD 20429000 is a solid carbide jobber length drill bit with a 0.2900-inch diameter, designed for precision hole-making in demanding materials. The bit features a 118-degree four-facet point angle with web thinning to reduce thrust and improve centering at entry. A regular spiral flute with right-hand cut geometry provides efficient chip evacuation during drilling operations. At 3.5 inches overall length with a 2.125-inch flute length, it is sized for standard jobber-length reach in vertical mills, drill presses, and CNC machining centers. The bright uncoated finish suits general-purpose applications across a range of workpiece materials.
This drill bit is intended for use in cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, and carbon and alloy steels. The solid carbide construction offers the rigidity and edge retention required when machining abrasive or work-hardening materials where high-speed steel tooling falls short. It is a general-purpose tool suited for production shops, maintenance machinists, and tool rooms running moderate to high spindle speeds. The straight cylindrical shank accepts standard drill chucks and ER collets without special toolholding.
Designed as an OEM-style general-purpose drill bit for use in cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, and steel workpieces, as designated by material codes K, M, N, and P. Fits standard drill chucks and collets accepting a 0.2900-inch straight cylindrical shank.
Installation and use of carbide drill bits should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with speeds, feeds, and chip load management for carbide tooling. Ensure the machine spindle and toolholder are clean and free of runout before seating the shank, as carbide is brittle and sensitive to lateral shock loads. Apply appropriate cutting fluid or coolant for the workpiece material unless running a confirmed dry-cut application. Do not use this bit in hammer or impact-style drilling equipment.
