The M.A. FORD. 20426560 is a solid carbide jobber length drill bit with a 17/64 inch (0.2656 inch) diameter and a 118-degree faceted drill point angle. Built for general-purpose drilling, it features a right-hand spiral flute with web-thinned, tapered web geometry that reduces thrust and improves chip evacuation. The bright, uncoated finish suits a wide range of cutting applications without the added cost of a specialty coating. With an overall length of 3.5 inches and a flute length of 2.125 inches, this bit fits standard drill chucks via its straight-cylindrical shank. It is installed by machinists, tool-and-die tradespeople, and fabrication professionals.
This drill bit is rated for use in cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, and steel. It belongs to M.A. FORD. Series 204, a general-purpose carbide jobber line designed for production and job-shop environments. The two-flute spiral design handles a broad range of material hardness levels, making it practical for mixed-material workflows on manual mills, drill presses, and CNC machining centers. It is not coolant-through configured, so external coolant or cutting fluid delivery should be used when drilling stainless steel or other work-hardening alloys.
Suitable for drilling cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, and steel (Primary Workpiece Material Codes K, M, N, P). Designed for use in standard drill chucks accepting a straight-cylindrical 17/64 inch shank on manual drill presses, milling machines, and CNC machining centers.
Installation and setup should be performed by qualified machinists or fabrication tradespeople familiar with cutting tool selection and speeds-and-feeds practices. Secure the shank fully in the drill chuck or collet and verify runout before beginning a cut. Because this bit is not coolant-through, apply external cutting fluid or coolant at the cutting zone, particularly when machining stainless steel or other work-hardening materials. Do not exceed the manufacturer recommended feed and speed parameters for the workpiece material, as solid carbide is brittle and susceptible to chipping under excessive lateral load or vibration.
