The M.A. FORD 20424200 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit sized to Letter C (0.2420 inches) with a 118-degree, 4-facet point geometry. It runs a regular spiral flute pattern in right-hand cutting direction and carries a bright, uncoated finish. Overall length is 3.25 inches with a 2-inch flute length, giving a 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio suited to general-purpose drilling. The straight cylindrical shank diameter matches the 0.2420-inch drill diameter. Web thinning at the point reduces thrust and improves chip evacuation. This bit is manufactured under ISO 9001:2015 certification and is part of the Series 204 line. Machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and maintenance professionals install this drill in drill presses, CNC machining centers, and hand-held power drills.
This drill bit is rated for general-purpose use in steel, aluminum, and other non-ferrous materials, corresponding to ISO workpiece material codes K, M, N, and P. It is a practical choice for production shops and maintenance operations where a reliable, uncoated carbide jobber drill is needed for moderate-depth holes in common metallic materials. The 4-facet point self-centers on entry and reduces walking on flat surfaces, making it well suited to both manual and machine setups. No coolant-through capability is present, so external cutting fluid or mist coolant should be applied when drilling harder steels to manage heat.
Designed as a general-purpose solid carbide jobber drill for use in steel, aluminum, and non-ferrous materials (ISO material codes K, M, N, and P); compatible with any straight-shank drill chuck accepting a 0.2420-inch shank diameter.
Installation and use should be performed by a qualified machinist or maintenance technician familiar with rotating cutting tools. Secure the straight shank fully in a properly sized drill chuck or collet before operation, and confirm the chuck or spindle is rated for the intended RPM. Power down and lock out the machine before changing or inspecting the bit. Do not use this drill without appropriate eye protection and, when drilling steel, apply external cutting fluid to manage heat buildup.
