The M.A. FORD 20418500 is a jobber-length drill bit in wire gauge No. 13, machined from solid carbide for use in demanding production drilling applications. It measures 0.1850 inches in diameter and carries a 118-degree faceted point with web thinning for reduced thrust and cleaner entry. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 0.1850 inches and fits standard drill chucks without adapters. Overall length is 2.75 inches with a 1.625-inch spiral flute. The bright, uncoated finish makes wear patterns easy to monitor and works well in dry or misted cutting conditions. This is a 2-flute, right-hand-cut bit from M.A. FORD Series 204, built to ISO 9001:2015 standards.
This bit is suited for general-purpose drilling in cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, and carbon steel. The solid carbide construction handles the harder materials and abrasive alloys that would prematurely wear high-speed steel tooling. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports jobber-length reach in typical through-hole and blind-hole operations on CNC machining centers, drill presses, and production manual machines. Machinists and toolroom technicians working in metalworking and fabrication environments are the primary users.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber-length drill bit for use in cast iron, non-ferrous metal, stainless steel, and steel workpieces; compatible with any standard drill chuck accepting a 0.1850-inch straight-cylindrical shank.
Install and remove this bit with the spindle fully stopped and the machine powered down or in an e-stop state. Secure the straight shank firmly in the chuck to the full depth of chuck engagement before cycling the spindle. Use appropriate cutting fluid or mist for the workpiece material, particularly with stainless steel and cast iron, to manage heat and chip evacuation. Inspect the cutting edges and point for chipping before each use, as solid carbide is brittle and sensitive to side loading or interrupted cuts.
