The M.A. FORD 20410940A is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in ferrous and hard-to-machine materials. Built to Series 204 specifications, it features a 4-facet, 118-degree point with web thinning for accurate self-centering and reduced thrust at entry. The ALtima aluminum titanium nitride (AlTiN) coating provides thermal resistance and extended tool life in demanding applications. The bit measures 7/64 inch (0.1094 inch) in diameter with an overall length of 2.25 inches and a flute length of 1.25 inches. Right-hand cutting with a regular spiral flute geometry and a straight cylindrical shank. Manufactured under ISO 9001:2015 certified processes. Suitable for licensed machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and maintenance professionals working with precision hole tolerances.
This drill bit is rated for use in steel, stainless steel, and cast iron as its primary workpiece materials, corresponding to material codes K, M, N, and P. The general-purpose grade and 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio make it a practical choice for production shops, maintenance facilities, and field service environments where consistent hole quality in hard materials is required. The straight shank accepts standard drill chucks without adapters, and the 7/64 inch size is commonly used for tap drilling, pilot holes, and clearance holes in light structural and mechanical assemblies.
Rated for primary workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, and cast iron (material codes K, M, N, P). Straight shank fits standard drill chucks accepting 7/64 inch or 0.1094 inch shanks. General-purpose grade suitable for a wide range of production and maintenance drilling applications.
This drill bit should be installed and operated by qualified machinists or maintenance technicians familiar with proper cutting speeds and feeds for carbide tooling in ferrous materials. Secure the shank fully in the drill chuck before operation and verify runout before commencing a cut. Carbide tooling is brittle and should not be used in applications with interrupted cuts or excessive vibration without appropriate setup. Inspect the cutting edge before each use and replace the bit if chipping or coating wear is observed.
