The M.A. FORD. 20407850A is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit sized to No. 47 wire gauge (0.0785 inches diameter) and designed for precision drilling in demanding materials. It features a 118-degree four-facet point ground to a web-thinned geometry for reduced thrust and cleaner entry. The ALtima and Titanium Nitride (TiN) dual coating improves surface hardness, lubricity, and tool life compared to uncoated carbide. Overall length is 1.75 inches with a 0.875-inch flute length. Right-hand spiral flutes with a regular spiral type handle chip evacuation efficiently. This drill is suited for machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and production drilling operations where tight tolerances and consistent hole quality are required.

Primary workpiece material codes K, M, N, and P cover cast iron, non-ferrous metal, stainless steel, and carbon steel.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians familiar with small-diameter carbide tooling. Secure the shank fully in the chuck or collet and verify runout before drilling, as carbide is brittle and sensitive to lateral loading. Coolant-through is not supported on this drill; apply cutting fluid externally when drilling stainless steel or cast iron to manage heat and extend tool life. Avoid using this drill in impact drivers or hammer-drill mode, which will fracture the carbide substrate.
