The M.A. FORD 20407810A is a 5/64 inch (0.0781 inch) diameter solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for precision drilling in ferrous and abrasive workpiece materials. It features an ALtima aluminum titanium nitride (ALTiN) coating, a 118-degree 4-facet point geometry, and a web-thinned tip to reduce thrust and improve chip evacuation. Overall length is 1.75 inches with a 0.875 inch flute length. The straight cylindrical shank and right-hand cutting direction make it compatible with standard drill chucks used in CNC machining centers and benchtop drilling setups. This bit belongs to M.A. FORD Series 204 and carries ISO 9001:2015 certification.
This drill bit is suited for general-purpose drilling in steel, stainless steel, and cast iron in both production and maintenance machining environments. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and regular spiral flute pattern support controlled chip flow in short-hole drilling applications. Machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and maintenance mechanics working with tight-tolerance small-diameter holes will find this bit appropriate for high-speed drilling without coolant-through capability. It is sold individually and is a direct fit for applications requiring a 5/64 inch finished hole diameter.
Designed for drilling steel, stainless steel, and cast iron (material codes K, M, N, P). No coolant-through feature. Suitable for use in standard straight-shank drill chucks. Diameter tolerance is +0.0000 to -0.0005 inches, appropriate for close-tolerance bore applications in the 0.0500 to 0.1000 inch diameter range.
Install in a matching straight-shank chuck and confirm runout before engaging the workpiece, as small-diameter carbide drills are brittle and sensitive to misalignment. Power down or de-energize the machine spindle completely before changing tooling. Do not use this bit with hammering or percussion action. Follow shop-specific feeds and speeds for carbide tooling in the applicable workpiece material to avoid tip fracture.
