The M.A. FORD. 20073440 is a solid carbide, straight-flute die drill bit designed for high-precision holemaking in demanding materials. Built to Series 200 standards and compliant with DIN specifications, it features a 135-degree split point and web-thinned geometry that reduces entry force and improves centering accuracy. The bit carries a diameter tolerance of +0.0000 to -0.0005 inches, making it appropriate for tight-tolerance die and mold work. With a 4-inch overall length and 1.5-inch flute length, this uncoated carbide bit is suited for machinists and toolroom technicians working in production or job-shop environments.
This drill bit is intended for holemaking in a wide range of workpiece materials, including cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, alloy steel, austenitic stainless steel, hardened materials, high-temperature alloys, titanium, ceramic, and glass. Its straight-flute configuration and right-hand cutting direction are well suited to controlled drilling operations in die sets, fixtures, and precision components where chip control and hole quality are critical priorities.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual mills where a straight-shank carbide die drill is required for holemaking in ferrous, non-ferrous, stainless, hardened, and exotic alloy workpieces.
This bit should be installed by a qualified machinist familiar with carbide tooling requirements. Secure the shank firmly in an appropriate collet or drill chuck rated for the 0.7344-inch shank diameter before starting the spindle. Solid carbide tooling is brittle and susceptible to breakage under side-loading or interrupted cuts - avoid lateral force during operation. Verify spindle speed and feed rate against material-specific cutting data before use; running carbide tooling dry or at incorrect parameters will cause premature failure.
