The M.A. FORD 20032810 is a solid carbide die drill bit designed for high-precision holemaking in demanding materials. Built to Series 200 specifications, it features a straight-flute geometry with a 135-degree split point and web-thinned construction that reduces entry force and improves centering accuracy. The uncoated carbide body holds a diameter of 0.3281 inches with a tight tolerance of +0.0000 to -0.0005 inches. This bit is suited for machinists, tool and die makers, and skilled tradespeople working in production or job-shop environments where consistent hole quality in tough materials is required.
This drill bit is engineered for cutting cast iron, stainless steel, alloy steel, high-temperature alloys, titanium, austenitic stainless steel, hardened materials, ceramics, and glass. The straight-flute design makes it well suited for short-chip materials where standard spiral flutes can pack or drag. It is commonly used in die work, precision machining, and secondary operations where hole location and finish tolerances are tight. Right-hand cutting direction is standard for conventional drill press and CNC spindle use.
Designed as a straight-shank die drill bit for use in standard drill chucks and CNC tool holders accepting a 0.3281-inch shank diameter. Suitable for holemaking operations in cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, steel, alloy steel, high-temperature alloys, titanium, ceramics, and glass.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or toolroom personnel familiar with carbide tooling. Secure the shank fully in a drill chuck or collet rated for the operating RPM before use. Carbide is brittle - avoid side loading, interrupted cuts without proper feeds and speeds, or dropping the tool on hard surfaces. Always verify spindle runout is within acceptable limits before running carbide drills in precision applications.
