Product Description

The M.A. FORD 20025000 is a solid carbide, straight-flute die drill bit engineered for precision holemaking in demanding materials. Built to Series 200 specifications, it features a 135-degree split point with web thinning to reduce thrust and improve centering on entry. The 1/4-inch diameter cutting geometry is held to a tight tolerance of +0.0000 to -0.0005 inches, making it suitable for close-tolerance work in tool-and-die, mold-making, and general machining applications. With a 2-inch overall length and 3/4-inch flute length, this bit is designed for short, rigid setups where runout control is critical. Machinists, tool-and-die makers, and CNC operators are the primary users.

This drill bit is rated for use in a broad range of primary workpiece materials including cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, and steel. Secondary material applications extend to alloy steel, austenitic stainless steel, hardened materials, high-temperature alloys, titanium, ceramic, and glass. The uncoated carbide construction makes it well-suited for shops that prefer to apply their own coatings or work with materials where coated tools are not ideal. Manufactured to DIN standards, it is appropriate for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual mills where a rigid, short-reach bit is required.

Key Features

  • Solid carbide construction for rigidity and wear resistance in hard and abrasive materials
  • 135-degree split point with web thinning reduces entry thrust and improves hole location accuracy
  • Straight-flute design suited for short-chip materials such as cast iron and hardened steels
  • Tight diameter tolerance of +0.0000 to -0.0005 inches for close-tolerance holemaking
  • Right-hand cutting direction with 2-flute geometry for efficient chip clearance in short flute length
  • Manufactured to DIN standards for consistent geometry and interchangeability

Compatibility

Designed for holemaking in cast iron, non-ferrous metal, stainless steel, steel, alloy steel, austenitic stainless steel, ceramic, glass, hardened materials, high-temperature alloys, and titanium. Fits standard 1/4-inch drill chucks and collets.

Installation Notes

Installation and use of this drill bit should be performed by qualified machinists or tooling professionals familiar with carbide cutting tools. Ensure the spindle, chuck, or collet is fully secured and free of runout before operation, as carbide is brittle and sensitive to lateral loading. Do not use in hand-held drilling applications. Follow machine tool manufacturer guidelines for speeds and feeds appropriate to the workpiece material and setup rigidity.
