The M.A. FORD 20018000 is a solid carbide, straight-flute die drill bit designed for precision holemaking in demanding industrial and toolroom applications. It measures 0.1800 inches in diameter, equivalent to a No. 15 wire gauge size, with a 135-degree split point that reduces walking and minimizes thrust on entry. The uncoated carbide construction delivers hardness and wear resistance when drilling cast iron, stainless steel, alloy steel, and non-ferrous metals. With an overall length of 2 inches and a flute length of 0.625 inches, this bit is engineered for short, controlled cuts in die work and close-tolerance machining environments.
This drill bit is suited for precision machining operations where tight diameter tolerances are required. The right-hand cutting direction and web-thinned geometry make it appropriate for use on CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual machines in tool-and-die shops, mold shops, and production environments. It is also rated for secondary workpiece materials including high-temperature alloys, titanium, austenitic stainless steel, hardened materials, ceramic, and glass, broadening its use across aerospace, medical, and advanced manufacturing applications.
Designed for holemaking in cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, steel, alloy steel, austenitic stainless steel, ceramic, glass, hardened materials, high-temperature alloys, and titanium. Part of M.A. FORD Series 200.
Installation and use of this drill bit should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with proper speeds and feeds for carbide tooling. Secure the shank firmly in a compatible collet or drill chuck rated for the 0.1800-inch shank diameter before operation. Power down and de-energize all machine tools before mounting or removing the bit. Do not use excessive feed pressure, as carbide tooling is brittle and subject to fracture under shock loading or improper fixturing.
