The M.A. FORD. 20014060 is a solid carbide, uncoated die drill bit engineered for precise holemaking in demanding materials. It features a 9/64 inch (0.1406 inch decimal) diameter with a 135-degree split point that reduces walking and improves centering at entry. The straight-flute geometry and web-thinned point reduce thrust requirements when drilling into hard or abrasive workpieces. With a 2-inch overall length and a 5/8 inch flute length, this bit is suited for shallow, accurate holes where rigidity and dimensional consistency are critical. It is installed and used by machinists, toolmakers, and maintenance professionals working in production or repair environments.
This die drill bit is designed for holemaking in cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, alloy steel, high-temperature alloys, titanium, hardened materials, ceramics, and glass. Its solid carbide construction makes it appropriate for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and precision hand-held equipment where consistent hole geometry and tight tolerances are required. The right-hand cutting direction and straight-flute configuration suit applications where chip evacuation is managed through toolpath or coolant strategy rather than flute spiral. It conforms to DIN standards, making it compatible with European and metric-standard tooling setups as well.
Rated for use in cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, alloy steel, austenitic stainless steel, high-temperature alloys, titanium, hardened materials, ceramics, and glass. Compatible with toolholders and chucks accepting a 9/64 inch (0.1406 inch) straight shank with a 1-3/8 inch shank length.
This bit should be installed by qualified machinists or toolroom professionals familiar with carbide tooling. Secure the shank fully in a precision collet or drill chuck before operation and verify runout before engaging the workpiece. Carbide is brittle - avoid side loads, interrupted cuts without appropriate feeds and speeds, and contact with hard fixtures or vise jaws. Power down and de-energize all machine tools before changing tooling.
